Came in this morning to the office, found we had no phone service. Okay, this is annoying, but it wouldn't be the first time - Verizon seems to have a history of "disconnecting" 3rd-party lines (we have our phone service through an alternate provider). So, we start making the phone calls to get somebody take a look and fix the issue.
Next door business guy has the same problem - okay, that's weird.
Turns out somebody tried to break into the building last night. They were aware enough that most alarm systems run off phone lines, so they did this nice wonderful job of literally destroying every phoneline coming into the building. Yanked them out of the walls from the outside, out of the phone box on the side of the building, sliced them up. Thankfully, it looks like they weren't entirely successful, only one window was damaged, but not enough to let somebody in.
It is going to take the phone guys a solid day, at least, to fix this. There is wire yanked all the way out of the building at this point from inside the wall, just sitting on the ground outside.
*sigh* One on hand, it will be a great day, no interruptions, just be able to work. On the other hand, people will most likely be showing up all day quite panicy that they suddenly couldn't get through, and most likely once the phones are back it is going to be a nightmarish flurry of phone calls.
