Double Parking

Why do so many people insist on double parking? I get to a client's office this afternoon, and they have a fairly small parking lot to start with (9 spots). So I get there, and there are 8 cars, except for this fancy blue sports car - which just happens to be parked dead center between two other cars, taking up 2 full spots. It wasn't even one of those "slightly off center" things where you could say that they were just a little sloppy - it was painfully obviously done on purpose.

Just one of those pet peeves of mine - had to park on the grass, and get my feet nice and wet in the process. Grr.

FYI, that's not double-parking, that's being an asshole. ;-)

Double-parking is actually a ticketable offense, and is when you park, essentially, in the street next to a parked vehicle.

But there's too many people who do both.

Heh. Thought there was a different term for it than double parking, but was too annoyed to think of it.

I live in a townhome in V.A with two assigned parking spaces. My other car was in the shop so i had two spaces for my one car. So i decided im gonna use these two spaces and make it just one big space, I figure i pay hoa fees and there my parking spaces. Well the tow truck company didnt feel the same way.i wake up in the morn and my brand new trailblazer is gone. towed for being double parked. It costed 100 bux to get it back. what a load of horse shit. I dont think anyone know,s the definition of doule parked so im gonna tell ya. ITS WHEN YOUR BLOCKING TRAFFIC AND PARKED NEXT TO ANOTHER VEHICLE IN A PARKING SPACE.

Actually, regarding blocking the road, it's no more than 18" from curb parallel or 12" angle parking. Double parking is when another OBVIOUSLY could have parked there as well, but no someone has to park without regard to other people, plain and simple. For some unknown reason many park as far away as possible from the red zone but no more room than for a Mini Cooper. I remember the good old days when I would go the beach in which parking is scarce. I would push a double parker ahead and WA LA now there are two cars that can park.
